The Internet has turned our existence upside down. It has revolutionized communications, to the extent that it is now our preferred medium of everyday communication. In almost everything we do, we use the Internet. Ordering a pizza, buying a television, sharing a moment with a friend, sending a picture over instant messaging. Before the Internet, if you wanted to keep up with the news, you had to walk down to the newsstand when it opened in the morning and buy a local edition reporting what had happened the previous day. But today a click or two is enough to read your local paper and any news source from anywhere in the world, updated up to the minute.

The future of social communications will be shaped by an always-online culture. Always online is already here and will set the trend going forward. Total connectivity, the Internet you can take with you wherever you go, is growing unstoppably. There is no turning back for global digitalization.

Innovation is the driving force of growth and progress, so we need to shake up entrenched processes, products, services, and industries, so that all of us together—including established businesses, reacting to their emerging competitors—can move forward together.

The Internet has turned our existence upside down. It has revolutionized communications, to the extent that it is now our preferred medium of everyday communication. In almost everything we do, we use the Internet. Most people these days have become heavy users of the internet. Technological advancement that has revolutionized the way that we do things. The internet has certainly impacted our lives, and the way we did things in the past is now different to this day; most people cannot even live without it.

The Internet itself has been transformed. Years back the main form of communication that was used was physical letters; often taking a week or even two to have them sent to someone and expecting a response, even longer. With the invention of the internet came email and instant messaging, which meant people could send and receive things instantly, changing the way we communicate with each other. All those direct contacts with people, the hundreds of emails or Facebook updates we get each day would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the internet – now we live in a much more connected world. Today, however, immense quantities of information are uploaded and downloaded the content is very much our own. Today, we can send data from one end of the world to the other in a matter of seconds.

The changes in social communication are of particular significance. Although new technologies are continuing to gain ground every day, transforming our communication practices and possibilities—particularly among new generation. The Internet has removed all communication barriers. The Internet has clearly impacted all levels of education by providing possibilities for learning, The Internet, in addition to its communicative purposes, has become a vital tool for exchanging knowledge and education. The Internet has also changed the way we interact with our family, friends, and life partners. Now everyone is connected to everyone else in a simpler, more accessible, and more immediate way; we can conduct part of our personal relationships using our laptops, smart phones, and tablets.

The future of social communications will be shaped by an always-online system. Always online is already here and will set the trend going forward. Just about everything in the world of the Internet still lies ahead of us, and mobile communications as we know them must be reinvented by making them more digital.

The advances of the internet also have far-reaching implications for healthcare and the quality of our lives. For those aren't able to visit a doctor in person, the practice of telemedicine represents the future of healthcare. Using videoconferencing or smartphones, doctors can examine patients remotely - whether they're diagnosing a common cold or evaluating a stroke symptom - which helps save lives while cutting down on costs and other resources. Telesurgery, which enables doctors to operate on patients despite not being in the room, is dramatically expanding healthcare opportunities for people in underserved communities. And the internet is bringing health practitioners together to learn from each other and collaborate on new advancements. This is happening both within hospitals and across borders: Johns Hopkins, for example, has partnered with Hospital Moinhos de Vento in Brazil to share medical knowledge, research, and best practices with the doctors and staff there.

As we see, Internet has been dramatically change communication patterns around the world. Nowadays, internet is considerably sustained with various demanding methods and tools of communication such as, social networks, Skype, E-mails and internet calling. Those technologies are helpful in bringing people together by providing world wide access with an internet. The latest social media technologies such as Facebook and twitter allow their users to share their photos and videos within a matter of second. In addition security that provide by the internet is also useful when transferring confidential information through the network. Thus, internet is a widely used for business activities perhaps, people pay their charges on-line to buy products then the purchased good would be deliver to the door in the next morning.

It's now easier than ever before to stay connected with people. Facebook serves as a daily high school and college reunion, informing you when old friends have gotten engaged or are expecting a child. Platforms like Skype or FaceTime can keep an executive in India connected to her team based in New York City.

HOW INTERNET COMMUNICATION HAVE CHANGED AND IMPACTED THE WAYS IN WHICH WE RELATE TO WORLD AND OURSELVES AND ACCESS KNOWLEDGE?

 INTERNET 

Internet is a very recent thing which came in late 80s. With the advent of computer the concept of internet i.e world wide network came into the world.The term “Internet” was coined by Vinton Cerf, Yogen Dalal and Carl Sunshine at Stanford University to describe a global transmission control protocol/internet protocol (TCP/IP) network, or the rules that allow for information to be sent back and forth over the Internet.

As the technological advancement took place, the urge to know more increased, so people started learning how to use computer. The size of the computers in the beginning was giant so was the difficulty to handle it as it required specialization in computer language and programming. Gradually the size and the complexity reduced and it became user friendly. In the present scenario it is the need of the hour in almost all countries. The things such as files, recordings, documents etc., have become so easier to send and receive without actually physically visiting the place.The people who are miles away can be contacted in few seconds. The relative working over the internet has become far more easier, cheaper and faster. The IT companies boomed with the internet . Earlier internet was limited to computers but now it can be accessed through laptops, palmtops, tablets and even mobiles .  

CHANGES AND IMPACTS OF  INTERNET

Internet has made world closer and even smaller to large extend. The geographical, political, social and even cultural barrier doesn't stop you from sharing your ideas, creativity, your position on various topics. It makes easier to reach out to the world in short span of time and discuss things that affects us in good or bad ways.The people of different countries,states, cities, culture, tribes, caste etc., get to know each other better. We tend to find people with all  kinds of opinions and eventually get all aspects of things which we alone could not have actually thought of. Its easier to gather a lot of information with less efforts as compared to the tedious work of searching matter in the books from libraries.

It has reduced transportation cost, made things paperless, it easier to circulate things to as many people as possible with just a click of the button. The compatibility of text, audio, video, graphics  altogether makes the work more interesting and even understandable.It gives us platform to know the world better and avail the opportunities coming in our way. In case of india the scheme like digital india, UPI and BHIM is an effort to make less cash society, which is taking the country towards development in great way out.

Despite all this it too has some drawbacks as: it takes away the real process of learning as when we read books search of it we tend to learn a lot in turn. Excess use of digital technologies can have bad effect on our eyes and health too. The people have become lazy and even stopped interacting much physically as most of the time they are in virtual world and in just 1 sec they can get the answer to the desired question so whats the point of actually meeting. They spend more time with mobiles than with people they share connections of love , friendship etc,. Children have stopped playing in fields rather majority of them are cell phones worms. There are also privacy threats of the data that we share online. 

I would conclude by saying that even though it has some issues as everything has positives and negatives .But in overall it has made world more advanced, developed and even enhanced its efficiency and economy.

HOW INTERNET INFLUENCE THE SOCIETY?

What are bitcoins, and should you invest in them? How many calories do you burn while riding a bike for an hour? No matter what the question is, you can find the answer on the internet. The ability to search for answers to an embarrassing question or communicate with people from across the globe - all with the stroke of a keyboard.

It goes without saying that internet is one of the greatest inventions in twenty first century and it is significantly improving day by day. Today, internet is generally accepted as a fast communication medium thus, some people believe it can make the world smaller by reducing the communication gap among us. The reinforced facts would display the role of the internet in today's society. It is almost terminated the most difficult era of communication. Which is clearly an opportunity to the people who live far from their families and now they can see and talk each other in a live environment. Yes, the world is suddenly become smaller with internet.

The Internet has saved our asses, and we should celebrate.1

I’ve been on the Web for a long time, but every once in a while I have one of those tremendous moments when I have a mental flashback to these last 20 or so years…  It happened today… one of my favorite Adele songs, writ large in a YouTube fan culture spectacular.

Someone had pruned the 71 best YouTube covers of the track from the 350,000 or so available.

A Snippet of Magic

I think it must have been magic that produced it.

I mean, even if I had the skill, would I spend that time on a small gift to the Internet?

But that’s what we’ve been doing. Building a capability network of epic proportions

Here are 10 ways I see us transforming as a culture, based on the possibilities now afforded to us by connections and technology:

1. Challenging the Status Quo

Before we could reach out to anyone on the planet, did we ever see anything as amazing as the projects and successes associated with challenged paradigms in the world?  With collective marketplaces that match previously disconnected buyers and sellers, fans of every color, ‘it takes a village‘ projects like Open Source, and collective effort never before seen in the world.  We are challenging the status quo, building things, creating things, connecting with each other, self-organizing around important issues, and yes, changing the world little bit by little bit.

2. Changed by Exposure to Diversity

We pay attention to the small details of people’s lives, delight over their family photos, and share at the level of family with a whole bunch of people.  We’re supported when we need to be. We talk about issues and conundrums and joys.  People are connecting and being exposed to both comfortable and diverse perspectives.

That will serve us well.

3. Support is Now Visible

We support people and things we like, on sites like Digg and Reddit

4. Learn More from Each Other

We learn from each other. You can find everything from make-up tips to channeled extraterrestrial messages on YouTube. And if you have ever doubted that kids are learning things these days, check out this very interesting exchange between a student and his English teacher.

5. Crowd Sourced Wisdom

We share our knowledge, wisdom and experiences. Quora is a place where you can ask any question in the world, and expect a reasonable answer.

6. Creativity  and Inspiration is Unleashed

We share our creative ideas and inspirations. Pinterest has redefined the digital portfolio/catalog.

7. Increased Appreciation of the Unique and Handmade

We still have a healthy respect for the unique and the handmade.  Etsy has enabled many a domestic entrepreneur and infused our culture with an amazing richness of creativity.

8. Truth is Exposed

We still haunt Twitter waiting for a cause or idea to support.  Retweets are our weapon in an effort to expose information and transform thinking.  It’s still an incredibly powerful tool, as its signal can not be easily stopped (following censorship laws or not).  ‘Can’t stop the signal!’

9. We are More Authentic

People in the social media space are finally talking more about authenticity, which might help minimize some of the junkier parts of our lovely information city.

10. Anyone can Contribute

We acknowledge that everyone has something to contribute, as long as you’re nice about it.

Tools for Total Transformation of Our World

I’ve been commenting on the Internet and its specifics for a while.  But for now I just want to comment on the wonder of it all.  That in our hands we have a tool that could allow a total transformation of our world, by first transforming our values through visceral experiences and real-time sharing of information.  The Planned Parenthood debacle (an2d the response to it) is an incredible example of this in action.

We vote with our clicks, and that’s some real power.

All of this underscored by a documentary I watched today.  It’s one of those everyday miracles of the Internet era.  A creation that just a couple of decades ago would have cost many thousands to produce.  Now all you need is the motivation and the time.

The Power to Reach Anyone

But more importantly, here’s how the Internet has changed us: we have been given power to reach anyone, tools to do it with, and reasons to think we might effect change with a vote, e-mail or blog post.  Changing people’s minds and seeing consciousness grow is one of the delights of information mavens.

Relishing in diverse and divergent thinking is another

We are having conversations in unparalleled ways with unparalleled access to the people and forces who can help create change.  We are also increasingly choosing the information we choose to expose ourselves to, and that’s a very good thing
